Overview The Sorenson Legacy Foundation Center for Clinical Excellence (SCCE) is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist (Business Assistant III) who will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of daily charges for designated healthcare clinics in the SCCE.

Responsibilities Processes daily charges and manages patient accounts according to SCCEs billing policies and procedures
Review and process daily charges by reviewing coding and charge amounts, submitting claims, and resolving denied claims
Manage patient accounts by addressing credits, past due balances, refunds, and addressing patient questions or concerns
Prepare, submit, and renew pre-authorizations as needed
Coordinate with clinic providers, front desk staff, and billing manager to ensure successful billing of claims
Audits and submits accounts to designated collection agency
Completes, submits, and maintains provider credentialing and provider group demographics
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Six years of related work experience; or an associate degree/technical training plus four years of related work experience; or a bachelors degree plus two years of related work experience
Two years of work experience must be working in a healthcare or medical HIPAA environment
Effective customer service skills and the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse population
Strong writing and editing skills
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of experience billing or coding in audiology, speech language pathology, psychiatry, behavioral health (counseling, psychological testing, applied behavior analysis), or telehealth services
Knowledge of electronic medical records and practice management software
Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications
Knowledge of healthcare finance/accounting practices
Skilled in organizing and managing time effectively
Ability to develop, enhance, and follow documented policies and procedures
Skilled at developing and maintaining an effective system of professional communication, both verbally and written, with clinic providers, staff, billing team, insurance payer representatives, and patients
Maintain current knowledge of insurance payer requirements, state, local, and federal rules and regulations
Knowledge of privacy & HIPAA standards and compliance
Ability to work with limited supervision and in a team environment
Ability to manage assigned projects effectively and demonstrate reliability and strong work ethic
