Overview
Utah State University seeks a highly collaborative, self-motivated, and experienced professional to provide innovative and strategic leadership to the Inclusion Center at the main campus in Logan. Job responsibilities will include taking the lead in executing a holistic student-centered mission that promotes the academic, personal growth, professional development, and social experiences of undergraduate students. Other responsibilities will include supervision of staff and financial stewardship.


Responsibilities
Operations Management - 55%
  • Manage and provide guidance on the day-to-day operations including distribution of duties to professional staff, student employees, peer mentors and interns.
  • Onboard professional staff and educate on various center operations as needed.
  • Supervise all professional staff including reviewing annual goals, work-plans, and assessment protocols; conduct timely coaching and performance management sessions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across campus to create, implement and monitor programs designed to ensure a sense of belonging for all students; programs and services that promote student development and learning based on current higher education research particularly as they relate to access and equal opportunity.
  • Actively contribute and participate in related campus wide learning initiatives, meetings, outreach, and community engagement.
  • Elevate centers' visibility by ensuring timely communication to campus partners, engagement and participation in university events that endeavor to improve access, opportunity, retention, and educational attainment.
  • Establish effective and innovative education and learning opportunities for peer mentoring and support, conflict resolution, and appropriate referral systems that support students' wellness.
  • Develop data driven student engagement and involvement processes that provide insight into students' progress, level of satisfaction, and general support to minimize attrition.
  • Maintain a departmental handbook on policies, and procedures in alignment with USU policies; review and evaluate areas of opportunities and communicate challenges to the supervisor.
  • Review and evaluate areas of programmatic growth and potential grants for the center.

Budget and Reporting - 20%
  • Create and submit annual budget requests.
  • Review monthly financial reports and communicate, and or assist in resolving any errors or discrepancies.
  • Work collaboratively with Business Services to incorporate policies and procedures of financial transparency and accountability in accordance with departmental and university policies.
  • Review and pre-authorize purchase requests, travel, leave, contractual agreements etc.
  • Compose and distribute monthly reports to the supervisor.
  • Publish annual center reports for distribution to campus and external partners.
  • Assists in inter-departmental initiatives as needed.
  • Manage scholarships and grants in accordance with departmental and university policies.
  • Review center physical and human resource capacity and provide timely communication to the supervisor.

Compliance and Collaboration - 10%
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders and campus partners (i.e., admissions, orientation, academic support specialists, registrar, success coaches, advisors, etc.) to provide proper guidance and directions to ensure optimal support to new, transfer and continuing students.
  • Effectively interpret the center's vision and mission to internal and external constituents, prospective students, donors, and alumni.
  • Accurately interpret and ensure compliance with federal, state, local law, and university policies as appropriate, including but not limited to FERPA, Title IX, Americans with Disabilities Act, Title VI, Title VII.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on inclusive excellence to internal and external stakeholders.

Student Mentoring - 10%
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and mentor student employees, interns, those on practicum, and identify learning outcomes for each group.
  • Mentor leaders in the different student organizations housed in the Inclusion Center; provide advocacy and administrative support in collaboration with USUSA, faculty advisors, program coordinators, and other related officers and offices.
  • Facilitate learning for student organizations' officers on financial procedures, budgeting, risk management, and related university events policies.
  • Facilitate outreach and networking with professional programs, and other related educational initiatives that increase self-efficacy, career pathways and allyship.

Miscellaneous - 5%
  • Serve on university committees as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of progressive experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience supervising teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Human Relations, Educational Leadership, or related field.
  • Experience advising and/or mentoring students in higher education or other related setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of intercultural and interpersonal competencies.
  • Knowledge of research-based practices that support student access, persistence, retention, and success in a changing higher education landscape.
  • Demonstrated evidence in student program development including co-curricular activities, implementation, and assessment.
  • Superior communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, coaching, and supervising teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborative work, building partnerships and working across campus departments and administrative units.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Suite and other student data/learning management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with highest levels of integrity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective and respectful working relationships with all levels of employees.
