The Role:

We are looking for a Sustainability Specialist to support ourbusiness,as we work to leave a world better than the one, we inherited for future generations. This new and exciting position will be essential in helping us deliver our refreshed Sustainability strategy and meet the goals and stretching targets we have set.

As a Sustainability Specialist, you will be at the forefront of understanding and managing the impacts of industrial activity on the environment. Your role will involve identifying and implementing environmental improvements across our operations, driving progress towards our sustainability goals. This includes water, waste, and biodiversity management, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and adhering to best practice sustainability and environmental management.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of environmental improvements in our operations, helping the business reduce water consumption, year-on-year reduce waste generated, improve waste hierarchy, achieve landfill-free status, reduce packaging material, eliminate the use of solvent-based paints, and improve biodiversity in our operations.
  • Drive accountability with our management teams to ensure compliance with related Group policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement campaigns and improvement plans with the regional leadership.
  • Build Environmental Management Plans that align with our parent company, Spirax Group, and local legal requirements.
  • Support the development and delivery of water management plans and efficiency programs.
  • Support the review of site waste management arrangements to identify improvement actions that promote the waste hierarchy and support the business in working towards zero waste to landfill.
  • Ensure environmental considerationsare integratedinto risk assessments and site waste management plans.
  • Support the submission of timely and accurate environmental data.
  • Engage with and co-ordinate external specialists to deliver specific industry-led advice, services, or other support that contributes to environmental improvements in our operations.

Required Experience
  • At least 2+ years of working experience in environmental management & sustainability.
  • A degree-level qualification in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, or related subjects.
  • Experience with a wide range of environmental compliance, such as permits and regulatory reporting.
  • Experience working with manufacturing sites (is a plus) to improve their environmental management & sustainability practices.
  • Experience in developing and delivering environmental guidance notes, operational control procedures, and awareness campaign materials.
  • Strong MS Office skills along with written and presentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001), regulatory requirements, andcompliance.
