Overview
The successful applicant will be a grounds keeper for the Utah State University Uintah Basin Vernal Campus. They will work with the landscaper to make sure the lawns and flower beds are aesthetically pleasing.

The grounds keeper works under the direction of the Vernal landscaper. The incumbent uses discretion and independent judgment in performance duties by completing assigned duties in a timely manner and in accordance with University standards.

This is an ACA Variable position.


Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
  • Be willing to take personal ownership of duties/tasks and participate in a shared vision for the success and growth of the Uintah Basin Campus.
  • Work with a positive attitude prepared with observations, concerns or needs as part of the custodial staff.
  • Hours of work are arranged, but are generally between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and other times as assigned.
  • This is a seasonal position that will run through the end of September - October 2024.


Qualifications
  • The ability to understand and apply principles, policies, procedures, and equipment required for the job.
  • Familiar with lawn and flower care procedures, using practices and procedures to ensure a sanitary, safe, and aesthetically pleasing facility.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects.
  • Must be able to work under supervision and take direction from supervisors.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience in landscaping.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision.

Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
