Position Announcement

Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day resident life operations and programs across all communities of On-Campus Housing. This involves overseeing development of a community and educational environment that encourages student engagement, positive relationships, and student success. Supervise the Resident Managers and Area Coordinators at Campus View Suites 1, 2, and 3 and may concurrently serve as Resident Manager for one of the University's smaller housing units (Abby Apartments). Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development of a Resident Life Program, and day-to-day operations, that fosters community and an educational environment that encourages student engagement, positive relationships, and student success across all communities of On-Campus Housing.
  • Train and supervise the Resident Managers and Area Coordinators at Campus View Suites 1, 2, and 3, including weekly one-to-one meetings, weekly Resident Life team meetings, and conducting annual performance evaluations. May concurrently serve as Resident Manager for one of the University's smaller housing units, with the following job duties, if assigned this role:
    • Participate in the on-call duty coverage, one week out of every six weeks, to respond to On-Campus Housing incidents and student crisis situations.
    • Supervise Resident Assistants assigned to area.
    • Maintain an awareness of physical facility conditions and coordinate needs or concerns with maintenance and custodial staff.
    • Organize and create on-duty schedules for both Resident Assistants and Pro-Staff.
    • Manage the on-duty shift exchange processes for Resident Assistants and Pro-Staff.
  • Facilitate and coordinate residential administrative processes, including cleaning and safety inspections, inventory reporting, Resident Assistant ID card programming, Resident Assistant purchasing cards, Resident Assistant community assignments, the Staff Directory, and Resident Assistant StarRez access.
  • Use reporting and data collection processes to quantify and evaluate staff performance, Resident Life programming success, student outreach, and student experience.
  • Assist with development, implementation, and management of Resident Life procedures.
  • Respond to emergency situations and assist in resolving resident concerns, roommate conflict, parent concerns, etc.
  • Provide support for complex situations involving conflict, misconduct, and health and safety after-hours.
  • Direct the planning, facilitation, and assessment of Resident Assistant hiring, onboarding, training, and educational processes.
  • Oversee and coordinate front desk coverage, mail, and administrative support for a Campus View Suites office suite.
  • Assist with the planning, collaboration, and facilitation of active educational, social and cultural programs for the personal growth and development of residents, in coordination with campus partners.
  • Oversee the planning, proposing, coordination, implementation and assessment of Living Learning Communities, as determined by the department's strategic plan.
  • Assist in the management and facilitation of the student conduct process by implementing and enforcing university and departmental rules and regulations, as well as adjudicating student conduct cases, as assigned by the Director.
  • Create, propose, and track a budget for Resident Life programming, functions, and initiatives.
  • Utilize StarRez when performing daily responsibilities, including updating student and building information, processing forms, and creating reports.
  • Monitor and communicate concerns related to facilities, including safety and security, cleaning service, maintenance, and keys.
  • Ensure the website and Resident Life Handbook is up-to-date with current Resident Life services, procedures, resources, etc.
  • Assist in the coordination of summer conferences planning, staff hiring, and building preparation and cleaning.
  • Provide supervision, training, and assistance during check-in/check-out periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
    • At least two (2) years' experience working in Residence Life, Student Involvement, or related fields after undergraduate career required. Three-plus (3+) years of live-in and Resident Assistant supervisory experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of student development and student involvement theories preferred; knowledge and experience with Living Learning Communities preferred.
    • Computer proficiency, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word and Outlook) required; knowledge of Banner, StarRez and Maxient systems preferred.
    • Strong organizational skills, with ability to respond to, and concentrate on, multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills required, with the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals and campus departments in establishing and maintaining effective and positive relationships.
    • Outgoing personality, with a history of dependability, reliability, and initiative.
    Supplemental Information

    POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $48,000+, with the possibility of a three-bedroom apartment with kitchen included (rent-free/utilities paid) if concurrent duties of Resident Manager are assigned, depending on qualifications & experience. Desired start date of July 1, 2024.
