Position Announcement

Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day resident life operation and programs of Campus View Suites 2, serving up to 534 residents. This involves overseeing development of a community and educational environment that encourages student engagement, positive relationships, and student success. This position is required to live in provided on-campus housing within Campus View Suites 2. Information about Housing & Resident Life can be found online at .

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day resident life operations and programs of Campus View Suites 2, serving up to 534 residents.
  • Oversee the development of a community and educational environment that encourages student engagement, positive relationships, and student success.
  • Respond to emergency situations and assist in resolving resident and parent concerns, roommate conflict, etc.
  • Plan and implement active educational, social and cultural programs for the personal growth and development of residents. Plan, propose, implement and assess Living Learning Communities, as determined by the department's strategic plan.
  • Assist in the management and facilitation of the student conduct process by implementing and enforcing university and departmental rules and regulations, as well as adjudicating minor student conduct cases, as assigned by the Director.
  • Utilize StarRez (student housing management software) when performing daily responsibilities, including updating student and building information, processing forms, and creating reports.
  • Participate in on-call duty coverage, one week out of every six weeks, to respond to on-campus student housing incidents and student crisis situations.
  • Monitor and communicate concerns related to facilities, including safety and security, cleaning service, maintenance and keys. Provide supervision and assistance during check-in/check-out periods.
  • Plan, organize, and assist in the facilitation of the centralized process for student staff recruitment, selection, placement and training.
  • Supervise 10 Resident Assistants.
  • Coordinate LGBTQIA+ housing and resources, in collaboration with Department colleagues and campus resources.
  • Coordinate with the Student Affairs division to facilitate programming and resources for On-Campus Housing residents.
  • Assist in the preparation for summer camps and conferences, including staff selection and training, cleaning checks, and key preparation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Two years' experience working in Residence Life, Student Involvement, or related fields during graduate or undergraduate career required. Experience advising a student group preferred.
  • Knowledge of Student Development and Student Involvement theories required; knowledge and experience with Living Learning Communities preferred.
  • Computer proficiency, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word and Outlook) required; knowledge of Banner, StarRez and Maxient systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to respond to, and concentrate on, multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills required, with the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals and campus departments in establishing and maintaining effective and positive relationships.
  • Outgoing personality, with a history of dependability, reliability, and initiative.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $44,000, with a rent and utility-free two-bedroom and one bath apartment also provided. Desired start date of June/July 2024.
