The role:

Responsible for the development and management of the second line of defense new activity and business change risk assessment process, designing and implementing formal and robust policies, standards, templates, and procedures for the coordination, documentation, and communication of risk inherent in new activities and business changes with coordination across business groups and independent risk management. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the assessment of new activities and business changes follow a formal process and are reviewed and communicated through an appropriate governance structure prior to implementation.

What you'll do:

  • Develop the 2LOD new activity and business change risk assessment policy, standards, templates and governance process;

  • Coordinate with the business to implement a risk assessment template, process and expectations;

  • Develop the 2LOD process to assess new activity and business changes along with other independent risk management areas to provide credible challenge of new activity and business change risk assessments and identify the key risks and metrics to monitor risk within company risk appetite;

  • Responsible for monitoring key indicators within set thresholds and reporting of material concerns;

  • Develop management and board level reporting to monitor risks associated with new activity and business changes;

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 7+ years of experience in second line of defense governance roles

  • Experience in banking and/or fintech industry, including regulatory experience

  • Exceptional data visualization skills

  • Experienced in assessing and/or implementing risk management frameworks and the lines of defense model in alignment with the OCC Guidelines Establishing Heightened Standards;

  • Knowledge of banking products, processes and regulations

  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills

  • Experience with GRC systems

  • Self-motivated

  • Well organized with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to change; comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty.

  • Excellent critical and creative thinking, decision-making and innovative problem-solving skills

  • Team Player

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; capable of drafting strong documentation and presentations, and interacting positively with management and colleagues

Nice to have:

  • Regulatory experience

  • Tableau data visualization and analysis

  • Experience working in Google Docs, Sheets and Slides

  • Multi-lingual (Spanish)
