Position Announcement

The Department of Computing at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Software Engineering / Program Director, with a specialization in Software Development, to begin Spring or Fall Semester 2024. This role will have teaching responsibility and will have main oversight of managing our new master's degree in software development. Responsibilities

  • A standard nine-month teaching load is expected, as outlined in , plus an additional two (2) month summer workload is also expected in order to facilitate the master's program.
  • Participate in Entrepreneurial innovation and problem-solving with students.
  • Work with the Department Chair, Dean, and other faculty in the Computing department regarding curriculum and program development.
  • Direct the graduate program for the Master of Software Development within the Computing department and collaborate with the UX Design master's degree program. This includes recruiting, marketing, advising, and other duties related to the successful deployment and management of both master's degrees.
  • Perform defined campus-wide duties, including holding office hours, attendance at department and division meetings, and service on committees and/or outreach programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field with at least five (5) years of industry experience required, Ph.D. with industry experience preferred
  • Demonstrated abilities and employment experience in Software Engineering and Development are preferred.
  • Successful teaching experience at the college or university level is preferred (especially at the graduate level).
  • Extensive knowledge of Software Engineering practices, project leadership, full-stack web and mobile application development.
  • Experience with user experience design is highly desirable
  • Ability to develop innovative curriculum and appropriate course content and teach under a variety of teaching situations including day, night, and online courses.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and mentoring skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with other faculty, staff, and students and contribute to a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students, staff, and colleagues orally and in writing.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (11-month) tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service begins January 1 or July 1, 2024. Annual salary commensurate with qualifications & experience.
