Job Description

Design Engineer II

"Manufacturing is more than just putting parts together. It's coming up with ideas, testing principles, and perfecting the engineering as well as final assembly." - James Dyson

Rebuild-It, a Sentry Equipment service, is looking for an energetic, creative, resourceful, problem-solving Design Engineer II to ensure maximum facility uptime and clean water for all.

This position will strive to improve our partner's processes through the creation of non-existent products or modifications of existing products. Additionally, product enhancements, reducing costs, and design for manufacturability will be an emphasis for this role. As a Design Engineer II, you will work under minimal supervision and draw solutions from your experience or the experience of those around you.

The Design Engineer II will be focused on a consistent review of our existing products as well as determining new products that should be included in our water/wastewater product offerings. You will evaluate design and function to assess the need for simplification, standardization, reliability, parts interchangeability, and cost reduction.

Through healthy communication and collaboration, the Design Engineer II will work to examine and analyze new applications/designs of products to determine feasibility of operation, manufacturing, and application. Your innovative and process improvement skills will help bring our engineering department to the next level.

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Three years of relevant experience in an industrial environment. Water and wastewater equipment experience is a plus.
  • Effective technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, tact, and diplomacy when dealing with vendors and/or customers.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail; able to establish priorities, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • A four-year technical degree (preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering - Mechanical Engineers, a PE license is highly preferred) or related experience.
  • Proven initiative and self-direction.

Sentry Equipment offers great benefits to support our employee-owners. On top of our competitive insurance plan, our team members receive 401k match, tuition reimbursement, and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. But the true return comes from our employee-owned culture focused on collaboration and a healthy work/life balance.
