Job Summary

This position works on the Client Platform Services team to design, configure, build, and document server & client systems infrastructure for use by students, staff and faculty. Distributes software, operating system updates and configuration changes to client systems with AppsAnywhere, SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager), Jamf Pro and other systems administration duties as assigned. Successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to fostering a diverse educational environment and workplace, and ability to work with a diverse student and faculty population.

Responsibilities

This position works on the Client Platform Services team to design, configure, build, and document server & client systems infrastructure for use by students, staff and faculty. Distributes software, operating system updates and configuration changes to client systems with AppsAnywhere, SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager), JAMF, and occasional local installations. Reviews, creates and maintains support documentation, including documentation of operational processes & procedures. Monitors, maintains and troubleshoots client & server systems software or hardware issues, particularly advanced issues that have been escalated. Improves efficiency through automation, leveraging scripting or programming through tools like PowerShell, VBScript and batch to streamline processes. Investigates new technology to provide recommendations for system improvements and life cycle planning. Individual must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work independently as well as work within a team.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency with at least 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Preferences

* Experience with implementing and administering Windows/Linux based servers & client systems
* Experience with Windows and Mac desktop operating systems (Windows 10, MAC OS 10.14))
* Experience with System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or other systems management and/or MDM software
* Experience with installing new software, updates to client systems, and troubleshooting technical issues.
* Familiarity with virtual machine technologies (ESXi, Hyper-V, VMWare Worksation, KVM)
* Familiarity with network technologies and standards, including DNS, DHCP, overall IP address management, endpoint device troubleshooting and applications of the OSI model
* Experience with developing and administering desktop and/or web applications.
* Demonstrated proficiency and capability with information technology systems in the context of an academic library
* Reading, writing, or speaking skills in a second language.
