Incumbents in the Supervisor series oversee, coordinate, and lead the day-to-day activities of an assigned work unit including supervising employees. Incumbents set goals for performance and deadlines, organize workflow, ensure that employees understand their duties and designated tasks, and monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback.
The Event Tech Team is responsible for meeting the audiovisual needs of customers in event spaces in multiple buildings including the Taggart Student Center, Eccles Conference Center, University Inn (5th Floor), David B. Haight Center, West Stadium Center, Spectrum, and other indoor and outdoor spaces for University and public events including the setup, operation, and striking of audiovisual and other technical event related equipment.
The Event Tech Team Supervisor reports to and receives direction from the Director of the Taggart Student Center and supervises full time and hourly employees.
1. Leadership & Supervision
a. Hires, trains, plans, schedules, assigns, monitors, and evaluates the work of assigned staff.
b. Ensures adherence to quality standards and deadlines.
c. Ensures that employees follow documented policies and procedures.
d. Creates and maintains a positive team work environment.
e. Establishes team strategies and goals that align with Taggart Student Center core values, vision and mission statements.
f. Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
g. Promotes personal safety of crewmembers by monitoring, evaluating, and enforcing safe behaviors.
h. Oversees the day-to-day operations of Event Tech Team.
i. Communicates with other Taggart Student Center Operations and Event Services staff via email and/or telephone.
j. Coordinates projects and delegates job assignments to team members.
k. Creates detailed outlines of procedures for events and projects.
l. Approves time-cards and leave requests (MyTime, AggieTime).
m. Maintains inventory of technical equipment and supplies.
n. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of technical equipment and supplies.
o. Maintains and performs simple repairs on equipment, tools, and office equipment.
p. Surpluses equipment that is no longer needed.
q. Researches new technologies and systems used by peers in the events industry.
r. Makes or recommends purchases of technical equipment and supplies.
s. Assists in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitors expenditures.
t. Coordinates with Director and Business Services Team on budget related matters.
u. Assists Director with maintaining job descriptions.
v. May perform duties as part of the team.
w. Is "on call" after hours to respond to team or department emergencies.
x. Conducts performance evaluations on full time and hourly employees.
y. Organizes regular team meetings.
z. Participates in department Team Leader meetings.
aa. Performs other Leadership and Supervision functions as assigned.
2. Technical Planning
a. Reviews daily and weekly setup schedules for event spaces in multiple buildings including the Taggart Student Center, Eccles Conference Center, University Inn (5th Floor), David B. Haight Center, West Stadium Center, Spectrum, and other indoor and outdoor spaces serviced by Event Services.
b. Attends weekly department and building coordination meetings.
c. Coordinates with Central Reservations and Program Coordinators on events.
d. Attends planning meetings with customer and Program Coordinator.
e. Reviews event setup plans including setup maps.
f. Schedules technical equipment and personnel according to the needs of the event.
g. Performs other Technical Planning functions as assigned.
3. Technical Setup
a. Facilitates and supervises the day-to-day work of the Tech Team in event spaces in multiple buildings including the Taggart Student Center, Eccles Conference Center, University Inn (5th Floor), David B. Haight Center, West Stadium Center, Spectrum, and other indoor and outdoor spaces serviced by Event Services.
b. Provides audiovisual systems integration, installation, and testing.
c. Maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots audiovisual, sound, and lighting systems.
d. Keeps maintenance records.
e. Directs full time and hourly employees to
i. Check event spaces before setup to make sure that they are clean.
ii. Read and follow technical setup plans and maps.
iii. Transport technical equipment and supplies from storage space to event space.
iv. Organize and assemble technical equipment.
1. Speakers, Sound Board, Video Board, Lights, etc.
v. Remove technical equipment not required for event.
vi. May operate technical equipment throughout event.
vii. Provide troubleshooting and assistance during events as required.
viii. Following event, strike technical equipment, inventory, and inspect it for damage.
ix. Transport technical equipment and supplies to storage space.
x. Check event space to make sure it is clean and ready for next event setup.
f. Ensures work quality and venue preparation for events through site inspections.
g. Performs other Technical Setup functions as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of related experience in a related field with one year of experience supervising others or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
